Chef-owner: Ayr Muir · Opened 2011
Founded October 2008 by Ayr Muir — an MIT material science graduate and Harvard MBA (and distant cousin of naturalist John Muir) — as a single food truck serving MIT. Harvard Square became the first brick-and-mortar in 2011. Chef Rolando Robledo built the launch menu; the chickpea fritter sandwich has stayed on it since year one.
Under $15 per person
Started as an MIT food truck, now a Cambridge institution. The chickpea fritter sandwich is perfect. The BBQ seitan is addictive. Fast, fresh, vegetarian-forward. Multiple locations but the Harvard Square flagship feels right. Even meat eaters love this place.
