About This Exhibition

Nestled inside Harvard's Memorial Hall, Sanders Theatre is a Victorian masterpiece completed in 1876 to honor Harvard's Civil War dead. The 1,166-seat theater features extraordinary acoustics and a soaring wooden interior modeled after Christopher Wren's work. Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King Jr., and countless world leaders have spoken from its stage. Today, it hosts everything from the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra to world music acts and literary readings. Yo-Yo Ma considers it one of his favorite venues.
