Owner Solmon Chowdhury opened Shanti in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 2000 after growing tired of frequently driving into Boston to find authentic Indian cuisine as a real estate developer. After adding a second Shanti location in 2013 with his wife Rokeya in Roslindale, MA over a decade later, Shanti is still praised as “Boston’s Best Indian Cuisine” (2012) by Boston Magazine.

As residents of Dudley Square, the Chowdhuries felt an absence of meeting places, which inspired them to open their newest concept, Dudley Cafe in Roxbury, MA in September 2015. The neighborhood cafe provides a space where residents, nine-to-fivers, and commuters can gather around locally sourced food, local art, and expertly crafted coffee.
The Chowdhuries are excited to open their next venture MONROE Restaurant and Nightclub in the Central Square neighborhood of Cambridge, MA in mid-January 2016.
Thumbs up for Cherlene, she the bomb. The food we order was favorable it was crab meat and shrimp ginger fried rice, the chickens wing and a burger. Five stars for the food. There was sushi on the menu but she told us the shipment did not show up. Waiting on the food (minus one star) due too short staffs.
We'll be back soon
I was not fond of the place whatsoever. A lot of weird stuff going on around me on the dance floor. The bathrooms were flooded with water when I went there and the cover charge plus cost of drinks is ridiculous. It was $10 online or $25 at the door. You'd think with a high cover charge the drinks would be less expensive but I had to pay $12 for a watered down rum & coke. It's not worth the visit
