In January of 1993, the 1369 Coffee House opened at 1369 Cambridge Street, in Cambridge’s Inman Square. The site was the former home of the 1369 Jazz Club, a well known local bar and music venue. In June 1994 we opened a second store in nearby Central Square.
From the beginning, we envisioned 1369 as more than just a place to get coffee. We offer the very best coffees and teas available. We strive to create a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and to be an integral part of the community. Many friendships, including several marriages, have developed at 1369. Several books and many theses have been written at our tables. We take pride in being a good neighbor and local gathering place. We are dedicated to maintaining this feeling.
We have been fortunate to be the recipient of many awards and accolades. We continue to pursue our goals in an effort to achieve excellence in all we do. We intend to survive the onslaught of chains and to endure long into the future. We will continue our commitment to our neighborhood and community.
Really, really good specialty lattes and cold brew! I had a fancy flavored cold brew here a while ago, and wow, I still want to go back for another! Their pastries also looked good, and I would love to try them.
I can now confirm the coffee is tasty. 🙂 The other day I had an issue with my order which I brought to their attention here, and they responded same-day and offered to gift the next drink to make up for it. Between the speedy & kind customer service and good coffee & atmosphere I can see why they 1369 Coffee House has such loyal customers.
My two year old recently pointed to 1369 and said "the coffee store!" which should give you an idea of how often I frequent this place. This place is the definition of a cozy neighborhood coffeehouse. It can get crowded on weekends, so we usually order a drink and some treats to go, sit outside on the benches, and watch the world go by. I'm a tea lover and love that they serve MEM loose leaf teas (awesome local tea company). They have the best breakfast sandwiches (try "the Spicy" on a croissant), yummy pastries, Q's roasted nuts (another local company), and mini donuts from Union Square donuts. Other than the tea, I recommend keeping it simple and getting whatever coffee they have brewed that day, or if you're into sweeter drinks, you can't go wrong with the the malted cold brew, Mexican hot chocolate, or any of their fogs (London fog, etc).
Cozy atmosphere. Multiple speciality beverages available along with a selection of food and pastries. Seating is limited.
Paintings and jewelry by local artists available for sale.
Absolutely fantastic local coffee shop! The staff are amazing and very personable, the coffee is delicious (cold brew is smooth and fantastic), and the local baked goods are too dangerous! The muffins are warm every morning, plus if you want something more along the lines of a breakfast sandwich, they do that on any bagel or croissant they have available. All in all, very good stop on the morning commute!
