A humble abode in the middle of the street, this place has a lot to offer. Authentic Arabic Coffee House with some of the best hookahs in the outdoor. The place has a great hospitality and is a nice joint, specially if you are a college student. Close to Harvard Square yet far from the crowd, the location steals the deal.
Yet one another of those places where you eat something, which reads great on the menu and does taste great, but when you think twice you realize that you are not getting the real nutrients and that you are only getting perhaps 25% of the amount of regular meal at home. Yet you pay a full price. Oh, and they brought my order, but not that of my buddy. 30 minutes later, they realized that the order never made it to the kitchen. Needles to say that it destroyed the whole experience. And probably they would have never picked up on that if they did not notice that I was not touching my food for 30 minutes waiting for that of my buddy as well. They did apologize, which is appreciated, but that doesn't change the fact that we were left with a bad experience; hence one star. I mean, one star for the great interiors.
Really, really poor. We sat in the corner, and were greeted by a distinct smell reminiscent of a port-o-potty at the end of Bonnarro. Arabic coffee was poorly made, and my friend's "farmer's omelette" must have been made by a farmer who specializes exclusively in watery, tasteless tomatoes, as that was the primary ingredient. She said it wasn't even warm enough for the cheese to have properly melted, and that the favorite part of her meal was the toast. My omelette was equally bland.
Service was terribly slow and a bit rude. At one point I had to get up to refill my own water since I had given up hope of having a server help, and spent about 15 minutes trying to get a check so that we could leave at the end. Would have gotten better service by strapping a tray to the back of a golden retriever.
Overall, worst $40 I've ever spent on two omelettes.
I am actually surprised how this place with the quality I saw got 4 stars so far. I am very easy-going and not picky at all. but I really wonder how people could find any positive points in this place! we have been there for breakfast at a time that the cafe was not crowded, yet it took a very long time until someone showed up to take orders. the glasses were not clean and we showed it to the waiter. we even asked the waiter to get us some disposable paper cups instead. the tray in which coffee and tea was served was so dirty as if it was never cleaned or washed. I have had Turkish coffee many times before and it is not supposed to taste like that. it contained very big grains and i could only drink two sips until i reached the solids. not that i could anyway drink more than that because the cardamom taste in the turkish coffee was so dominant. Even flowers were suffering at this place as they were not watered and flowers had fallen down from the hanging pot. DO NOT GO THERE.
First time I came here, they took 40 minutes to get one plate out. Second time, it was great. Awesome place for brunch. Don't expect great service but the food is spectacular. Try their range of teas!
